Committee Responsibilities
The Young Engineers in ASHRAE (YEA) committee provides events and initiatives for young professional ASHRAE members, 35 years old and younger. This involves:
- Planning Local YEA Themed Social & Technical Events
- Promoting YEA ASHRAE Society Programs
- Working closely with the Student Activities Chair to grow the YEA membership when students graduate into the industry.

Opportunities & Resources
The YEA Committee is excited to offer a wide range of opportunities designed with the YEA member in mind. All of these events are open to YEA members (Affiliates, Associates, and Members who are 35 or younger at the start of the Society year). Some events are registration based, while other require an application for selection. All details – including event specifics, program overview, and any applicable registration costs – are located on each event’s page below. We hope to see you at a future YEA event!
HVAC Design Scholarship
Location: Various or Virtual
To encourage attendance by young professional ASHRAE members, YEA offers attendance scholarships to the HVAC Design training. The full cost of registration to Level I or II of this training will be covered by ASHRAE.
Leadership Academy
Location: ASHRAE HQ
Purpose is to help members be better ASHRAE Chapter members by learning more about ASHRAE, developing soft skills, and networking with other engaged members. There is no age criteria!
YEA Leadership Weekend 1.0
Location: North American City (Various)
Purpose is to help members learn more about ASHRAE, develop soft skills, and network with other young professionals. Must be aged 35 or younger
YEA Leadership Weekend 2.0
Location: North American City (Various)
Purpose is to provide additional, more advanced resources to YEA Leadership Weekend (YLW) alumni. Must have already attended YLW.
YEA Leadership International
Location: Outside North America
Purpose is to help members learn more about ASHRAE, develop soft skills, and network with other young professionals from across the globe. Must be aged 35 or younger.
LeaDRS
Location: Winter & Annual Conference Purpose is to encourage the development of current and future Regional leaders by shadowing a Region II Director & Regional Chair at an ASHRAE Winter or Annual Conference. There is no age criteria!
Leadership U
Location: Winter & Annual Conference
Purpose is to develop current and future Society leaders by shadowing a Society Vice President at an ASHRAE Winter or Annual Conference. Must be age 35 or younger.
